Installation Issues

Karafuru installation usually completes without a hitch, but if you run into trouble, here are the most common fixes.

Download fails or is slow

Problem: The installer won't download, or it's taking forever.

Solution:

  1. Check your internet connection — try downloading a different file to test
  2. Clear your browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+Delete on most browsers)
  3. Use a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
  4. Try downloading during off-peak hours when your connection is less congested

If the download still fails after 5 minutes, check the file size (should be around 200–400 MB). If your browser shows it's incomplete, restart the download.

Installer won't run ("Windows protected your PC")

Problem: You see a security warning and can't proceed.

Solution:

  1. Click More info on the warning dialog
  2. Click Run anyway at the bottom
  3. Installation proceeds normally

This warning appears because Karafuru is new. It's safe to run. Windows SmartScreen checks file signatures automatically — we pass those checks.

"Access denied" or permissions error

Problem: Installer says you don't have permission to install.

Solution:

  1. Right-click the .exe file
  2. Select Run as administrator
  3. Click Yes when prompted

If this doesn't work, check that your user account has admin rights on the PC. Contact your IT support if you're on a work computer with restricted permissions.

Installation starts then stops silently

Problem: The installer appears to run but closes without completing.

Solution:

  1. Restart your PC
  2. Disable antivirus software temporarily (Windows Defender is fine)
  3. Run the installer again as administrator
  4. Re-enable antivirus when done

Sometimes antivirus blocks installer processes. If this doesn't work, try downloading the installer again — the file may be corrupted.

"Not enough disk space"

Problem: Installation fails because your drive is full.

Solution:

  1. Free up at least 3 GB of disk space
  2. Delete large files, old downloads, or temporary files
  3. Run Disk Cleanup (search for it in Windows Start menu)
  4. Try installing again

If you don't have enough space, consider moving files to an external drive or upgrading your storage.
